American Journal of Comparative Law

Home

The American Journal of Comparative Law is published by the American Society of Comparative Law in cooperation with Oxford University Press. The Journal has published articles from authors in over forty countries, representing all regions, legal systems, and legal cultures of the world in the following areas of law:

Comparative Law, Comparative Legal Theory, Comparative Legal History, Private International Law, Conflict of Laws, Globalization of Law, Unification of Law, Transnational Law, Foreign Law, Religious Law, and European Law

The American Journal of Comparative Law is a peer-reviewed journal, accepting articles on the basis of evaluations by specialists in relevant fields. Every article has been approved by outside reviewers and accepted by the Editors-in-Chief. The Journal publishes only around 6-8% of submitted articles.

Due to the large volume of submissions we receive, accepted papers (post-peer review) are typically published in an issue of the Journal within 12 months, with online publication occurring sooner. Individual articles are posted online as they become available.

Authors whose works are not sent out for peer review are almost always notified within two weeks of submission. For articles sent out for peer review, the Journal seeks to provide decisions within three months, and in almost all cases, communicates decisions within six months.
